About the Stone
Raj Blend is the multicolour cousin of Raj Green — cut from the same sandstone beds in the Bundi–Kota belt of Rajasthan, but selected for spread rather than consistency. A single pack carries greens and bronzes alongside browns, greys, buffs and ochres, with occasional yellow or lilac swirls running through individual slabs.
That spread is the whole point. Laid together, the colours read as a soft, weathered tapestry — as though the patio has been down for decades. It is why Raj Blend is specified so often as the natural alternative to reclaimed Yorkstone, and why it sits equally well in a cottage garden, a period courtyard or a heavily planted urban scheme.
Every slab is hand-split for an authentic riven face, hand-dressed at the edges, then calibrated to a nominal 22mm so it lays to an even height. Water absorption sits in the usual sandstone band of roughly 1–3%; the stone is frost-resistant and stands up to repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Matching setts, steps, copings and circles are available to complete the scheme.
The standard mixed patio pack holds 60 slabs across 4 sizes, calibrated to 22mm — roughly 18.5 m² at a 10–12mm joint. Single sizes, setts and circles available to order.
Care & Maintenance
Raj Blend is low-maintenance. A sweep and an occasional wash keeps the surface clean and the colours reading true; keeping it clear of algae and moss also maintains grip. A jet-wash once or twice a year is usually all a UK patio needs — keep the lance moving and off the riven face at close range.
Sealing is optional but worth doing. A breathable impregnating sealer resists staining through wet winters, and on a multicolour stone it also deepens and unifies the palette — test it on a spare slab first so you know what you are getting. Use pH-neutral cleaners only; acidic products cause permanent damage to natural stone.
Same quarry belt, different selection. Raj Green is graded towards the green and bronze end of the spectrum for a tighter, more consistent palette. Raj Blend deliberately keeps the full spread — greens, browns, greys, buffs and ochres — in every pack. Choose Raj Green for uniformity, Raj Blend for a mixed, weathered look.
No — and they are not meant to. Raj Blend is a high-variation stone and matching would defeat its purpose. Open all crates at the same time and take slabs evenly from each, so the colour spreads across the whole patio instead of pooling in one area.
It is the closest match in the Indian sandstone range. The mix of greens, browns and greys over a riven face gives a very similar aged appearance, at a fraction of the cost and with far better availability and consistent thickness.
Sealing is optional but recommended for outdoor use. A breathable impregnating sealer resists staining and moisture. Note that most sealers deepen the colour on a multicolour stone, so test on a spare slab before treating the whole patio.
No. The riven surface carries an R11 slip rating and gives reliable grip underfoot in wet weather, provided it is kept clear of algae and moss — which reduce grip on any paving over time.
