About the Stone
Raj Green is one of the best-selling Indian sandstones we ship, and it's easy to see why. Its soothing green colour, threaded with light gold and gentle brown, closely resembles the traditional York stone long used across the UK — but at a far more accessible price, which makes it a first choice for everyday gardens and landscaping projects rather than just heritage restorations.
Our Raj Green paving is a versatile garden stone with a genuinely contemporary feel. It's hard-wearing and durable, designed for outdoor use, and holds up to harsh weather while keeping its grip underfoot. Each slab is calibrated from the base to a 22mm thickness so it lays quickly and evenly — a riven top paired with a calibrated bottom is a splendid combination that saves landscapers real time on site.
It carries many shades of colour throughout: as the name suggests, a mix of greens and soft browns, with occasional purplish tones running through the blend that add to the rich, traditional character of the stone.
Raj Green comes in two popular 5-size mixed packs — the 600 series and the 560 series — each totalling 62 slabs. French pattern packs are also available on request.
Raj Green Cobbles
Raj Green cobbles are a favourite for cobble paving across Europe — Belgium, Germany, France, Austria, and especially the UK. Every cobble is hand-cut and handmade individually, so there are always slight variations from piece to piece that give the finished surface a genuinely natural feel.
With good production capacity and close owner oversight of quality, we supply these cobbles to clients around the world. Sizes can be mixed and matched, and custom dimensions are available to order.
It was originally quarried near a village outside Kota called Rajpura. The stone's solid green colour, blended with buff and brown, made it distinctive — and rather than say "Rajpura Green Sandstone," exporters and importers found it easier to shorten to "Raj Green." The name stuck, and that's how the world knows it today.
